Jasper Miller is co-owner and head brewer of Higherground Brewing Company in Hamilton, Montana. He graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula with a B.S. Degree in Microbiology. After graduation he attended the Master Brewer Program at UC Davis, after which he attained an international diploma in brewing from the London, his IBD. He first became interested in brewing during college when he was involved with the Zoo City Zymurgists, a Missoula-based home brewing club. He won a competition with his Hurruh Scotch Ale, which was then featured as the Community Brew at the Missoula Brewfest. He and his friend and business partner began exploring starting a microbrewery during their senior years in college. Three years later in 2011 Higherground Brewing Company opened its doors. Jasper became one of the youngest head brewers in the country.

Higherground produced winning beers at the 18th and 19th annual Bitterroot Brewfests (Summerfoot Pale Ale in 2012 and Hula Hop IPA in 2013). Higherground was recognized as the best microbrewery in the Bitterroot Valley in the annual “Best of the Bitterroot”.

Between brew batches you can find Jasper casting drys or stripping streamers as he floats down the Bitterroot River stalking big browns, bows, and cuts.
